Help Please!!!

Hi, Chicas,

I need some help. I have been helping out with a high school track team this spring, and I keep wondering what kinds of workouts we did at BYU. I want to be ready with some good info to pass along to the head coach as he plans the cross country and track workouts for next year.

I remember pretty well our cross country and 5k/10k workouts, but I really don't know what you 800, 1500, and 3000 girls did. Would you post on the blog or e-mail me at amybcooper@hotmail.com with the workouts you did? Oh, and please include what you remember about cross country workouts, and you 5k/10k girls, please send along what you remember, too, since I'm sure there are things I have forgotten. If you would, please include the following information:
  • Length of repeats
  • Number of repeats
  • Amount of rest
  • Pace (i.e. race pace, faster than race pace, any specifics you can provide)

So, for example, I remember a classic 5k/10k workout being 4-6 1200's at slightly faster than 5k pace with one lap job recovery.

Also, any of you who have actually coached high school kids, what workouts have you found to be effective? Do you have any tips you could pass along?
